4th of July

We went camping this weekend at Frenchman's with family and friends. The weather was beautiful and we spent both days going to the water. Dolan playing in the bedding I took home to wash.

this uploaded sideways...but I needed to get a pic before he got dirty, and dirty he did! All weekend long.... I never thought I would get him to come clean.

17 months...

Dolan turned 17 months old on the 4th.... Time is flying by. He is such a character. He is really beginning to get a personality, sometimes one that I recognize but don't always appreciate. He continues to be the sunshine of my life and warms my heart everyday. Dolan talks alot although we don't always understand what he is saying. He says some things very clearly... and has recently starting using no. (ughh) He gets what we like to call lazy legs when he doesn't want you to put him down. Dolan adores all animals at this point and gets very excited when he sees Amber's cats. He laughs at himself sometimes for no reason and loves playing hide and seek. He loves phones and will open my cell phone, put it on his shoulder and chat away. He is a super waver, he waves anytime, anywhere. He is known to walk into stores, restaurants etc and just wave away. I am sure he is going to be in the public eye. (BTW, he doesn't get this trait from his mom) He is doing so many things right now it is hard to keep track of them. This video shows him attempting to sing along with a song, which is also one of his newest things.... Don't mind my house, he is also a fabulous destroyer!

Today

Although not the best quality because I took this with my phone.... it still shows how much Dolan loves this. I saw this and another outside toy on craigslist today and miraculously got it... I have been looking forever but it felt like so was the rest of Northern Nevada. This toy has been by far the best $15 I have spent in a long time. He is climbing all over this thing. I finally brought it in the house so that I could get something done. He climbs backwards up the slide and falls to the inside... He is getting his toys and just sitting in there. I am going to get some video but my camera is in the other car....

Although a few days late, I figured I needed to post about Thursday.... First and foremost it was our 4 year anniversary. I cannot believe how fast time flies. It really feels like yesterday that we were married, although we have come leaps and bounds since that day. We celebrated by having Grandma watch Dolan, overnight, and we went to the Melting Pot. We found out before dinner that our friend's mom had a comped room at the Peppermill that no one was going to be able to use.... so we decided to drink and gamble into the early morning hours and then stayed in a lovely room. Minus the fact that our friend actually gave us the pool key instead of the room key, a few phone calls later at 2 am we had our key. We really love Katie for being so good to us! It was a great night out for the both of us and the first that we have had since having Dolan... although we paid for it dearly the next day especially JJ!

And of course the big news of the day is Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson dying. I remember looking back in my baby book when I was born and my mom noted the day that Elvis died... She was so sad and said that I would never get to know the "King." I felt like I needed to note this as well for Dolan. Although MJ was extremely weird, quite possibly a freak of nature... he was talented as the day was long. We grew up listening to his music and he did change pop culture as we knew it. He was an amazing artist and dancer, although I never in a million years would have let my son stay over night or drink his Jesus Juice... this is still a day to remember...

Fun with Elmo Live!

Dolan got an Elmo live doll for his birthday... he mostly ignores him but on this particular day he was so funny with him I had to get several videos. This Elmo is amazing and think as adults we are much more entertained by him. the videos make more sense if you watch the bottom one first then the middle one...remember to pause the blog music. Unfortunately Elmos' batteries were dying....

Happy Father's Day 2009

Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers out there. I just wanted to take a moment and give thanks for the wonderful men in my life. James is such a trooper when it comes to us. He never leaves me alone in the trenches, whether it is the middle of the night or if there is pungent puke and poop. I can honestly say that we are a team when it comes to parenting this little guy. In the last month he has taken on the morning routine and although he forgets to put on the clean, matching, outfit that is nicely laid out in the morning and sometimes Dolan shows up to Ambers with his shoes on the wrong feet, or he leaves his pj top on and adds jeans, "because they match..." I have to remember that Dolan is clothed, fed and happy to boot. Dolan absolutely adores his daddy and totally lights up when he hears his da-da come home from work. He will stop doing anything to run as fast as he can to the door with his arms wide open. We are blessed to have you in our lifes and love the daddy that you have become and continue to strive to be.

I was so excited that I made it on her blog, but then I loved the pic so I had to steal it. Am I breaking copyright laws? This was yesterday at Dillon's 2nd birthday. I wish I would have taken pictures, but I forgot my camera in the car and I was too busy chasing this wandering kid. He just felt as though he was going to explore everything. The party was great and I always love seeing what Delane has created in regard to the birthday cake, she has no idea but I am going to steal her ideas for years to come and pretend they are mine to all of my unknowing party guests :) Dillon was adorable with his new hair cut and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his tractors! Thanks for inviting us, we had a great time seeing you all again!
